This 12-week clinical group program is designed for individuals interested in exploring ketogenic metabolic therapy as part of their mental health care.

Participants receive medical and nutritional guidance as they learn about and begin a ketogenic approach. The program combines clinical monitoring, practical education, skill-building, and peer support in a structured group setting.

Learning alongside others gives participants an opportunity to share experiences, work through common challenges, build accountability, and develop strategies for applying what they learn in daily life. Our medical and nutritional teams provide guidance throughout the transition, with a focus on safety, informed decision-making, and sustainable practices.

This program is intended to complement, not replace, each participant’s existing mental health treatment. Participants must remain connected with a qualified mental health provider who oversees their psychiatric care and medications.

This program may be a good fit for individuals who

  • Are curious about the potential relationship between metabolic health and areas such as mood, cognition, energy, and overall well-being.
  • Want a medically supervised and structured introduction to a ketogenic approach.
  • Value learning and working toward health goals alongside a supportive group of peers.
  • Would benefit from education, accountability, and practical strategies for navigating dietary change.
  • Have a current mental health provider overseeing their psychiatric treatment.
  • Are interested in building sustainable habits that support their longer-term mental and metabolic health.

Participation is subject to clinical screening to determine whether the program is appropriate for each individual.

How it works

Program Structure

This 12-week program combines an in-person clinical and educational experience with virtual support throughout the week. Participants receive coordinated guidance from a psychiatric nurse practitioner, ketogenic dietitian, and health coach or therapist while learning alongside a supportive peer group.

Before the Program

Participants complete a clinical screening to determine whether the program is appropriate for them. The team reviews each participant’s health history, current medications, treatment goals, and any factors that may affect safe participation. Participants remain connected with their existing mental health providers throughout the program.

Weekly In-Person Program Day

The in-person component occurs weekly and includes:

  • Medical Group: Led by a psychiatric nurse practitioner, this session focuses on psychiatric symptoms, response to the intervention, symptom-management strategies, and medication-related considerations. Medication decisions remain individualized and are coordinated with the appropriate prescribing provider.
  • Nutrition Group: Led by a ketogenic dietitian, this session provides education and practical guidance for following a nutritionally appropriate ketogenic approach. Topics include meal planning, metabolic monitoring, nutritional adequacy, troubleshooting, and applying the approach in everyday life.
  • Vitals Monitoring: Participants receive a weekly check of weight, blood pressure, heart rate, blood glucose, and ketone levels. These measures help the clinical team monitor participants’ responses and provide individualized guidance throughout the program.

Virtual Support Throughout the Week

  • Dietitian office hours: Virtual access to a ketogenic dietitian for questions, nutritional guidance, and help addressing challenges as they arise.
  • Adherence and barriers group: A virtual session led by a health coach or therapist focused on identifying obstacles, strengthening motivation, developing practical solutions, and building habits that support adherence.
  • Peer connection and accountability: Continued group engagement helps participants learn from one another, normalize common challenges, and maintain momentum between in-person sessions.

Planning for Continued Care

Toward the end of the program, participants reflect on their progress and develop an individualized plan for next steps. This includes strategies for maintaining appropriate habits, anticipating future barriers, and coordinating continued care with their established healthcare providers. Opportunities for ongoing group and individual support may also be available.
